PhD examination RMIT University School of Architecture and Urban Design

Roseanne Bartley is a Melbourne based artist, writer and educator. She works across a range of material. text and social platforms to explore the spatial and affective agency of jewellery. Her work explores jewellery as both doing and thing, an ornamental agent through which to activate anew human and more than human relations.

She refers to her emergent and collaborative approach as facilimaking, to spatial temporalities of jewellery as ornamental events, and to the open-ended reciprocity underpinning her process as co-elaboration.

As such her Ph.D. from the School of Architecture and Urban Design at RMIT (2018) was titled ‘Facilimaking Ornamental Events–makeshift co-elaborations of jewellery juh - oul - lurh – ree.’
